ANOTHER power-packed performance by Selkirk 'A'
saw the Souters run 10 tries past East Kilbride 2nds in Saturday's National 2nd XV Leagues fixture at Philiphaugh.
The win leaves the Souters in prime position for promotion to Division Two.
Tries in the first half from Craig Hunter, Struan Jack and Chris Kemp (who turned in an excellent display, in only
his second match back from injury) put the home side in the driving seat, with Jim Ross adding one conversion to
give the home side a 17-0 interval lead.
With the big East Kilbride pack tiring after the break, further tries came at regular intervals from Rob Taylor
(2), Greg Fairbairn (after a fine solo run from Duncan Lawson), Fraser Jack, Craig Hunter, Gary Lyall (in his comeback
game) and Jim Ross. Three conversions were added by Ross, who had a productive afternoon..
Once again Neil Brown showed up well at centre, while Darren Vevers got through a power of work up front, and Rob
Taylor carried the ball well before retiring after taking a shoulder knock.
The final word goes to veteran prop Iain Purves, however, who got his name on the scoresheet with the last kick
of the match by drop-kicking a conversion. Mr Versatile strikes again!
