Confident Selkirk 'A' in the
driving seat
ON this showing, Selkirk 'A' look as though they
will again be a force to be reckoned with in Division Three of the Scottish 2nd XV Leagues. Although Saturday's
match at Braidholm was only a friendly, the visitors showed enough commitment and classy touches to suggest a successful
season lies ahead.
No-one epitomised Selkirk's spirit more than teenage number eight Richard Cook. Having just moved to Philiphaugh
from Selkirk Youth Club, the youngster battled hard throughout the whole 80 minutes and impressed team-mates with
some good support play.
Selkirk benefited from the experience of fly-half Scott Tomlinson, with the former 1st XV skipper able to control
the game both from hand and with the boot, while Alistair Lyall also showed up well.
Selkirk's try scorers were Grant Forrest, Fraser Jack, Jim Ross, Michael Jaffray, Greg Fairbairn and Scott Tomlinson,
who also landed three conversions.
This Friday night Selkirk 'A' take on Walkerburn at Philiphaugh (7.30pm kick-off).
SELKIRK - M. Jaffray, G. Fairbairn,
