Selkirk 'A' players end league campaign on a winning note
GOOD teamwork ensured a convincing victory for
Selkirk 'A' in their final Border Farm Supplies Border Championship fixture at Philiphaugh on Saturday. The Souters
ran out comfortable 59-7 winners over Berwick 2nds, although the visitors deserve credit for battling gamely to
the final whistle.
Once again teenage fly-half Darren Scott turned in a five-star display, controlling the match throughout, and profiting
from some excellent service from half-back partner Fraser Jack.
A special mention must also go to the young back row of Callum Johnston, Scott McDonald and Matthew Robertson,
who were always first to the breakdown and tackled like demons for the full 80 minutes.
Selkirk were ahead by 33-7 at halftime, and went on to notch a total of nine touchdowns.
Tries came from Alistair Lyall (3). Callum Johnston (2), Michael Jaffray (2) and Darren Clapperton (2). Darren
Scott kicked seven conversions.
